The Gábor Kovács Art Foundation organizes five to six large-scale exhibitions a year, which deal with different subjects and periods from the history of Hungarian and international art. Beside individual oeuvres of classic contemporary art, a special attention is awarded to the youngest generation of artists, whose work is favourably presented at the annual Fresh Europe show. Furthermore, the Foundation intends to devote a series of grand exhibitions to various periods and outstanding artists from the past 200 years of Hungarian painting, which establish, as it were, the continuity of the classic ages and today's contemporary art. Displays of international masters, on the other hand, can attest to the organic links of Hungarian art to the international scene, can prove that the former not only was but still is, an integral part of the latter.

The Kovács Gábor Art Foundation >

It was in the autumn of 2002 that Gábor Kovács announced the establishment of a private foundation with the initial capital of 3 billion forints, for the purposes of supporting the contemporary visual arts. A patron and collector of art, the founder seeks to broaden the local audiences of Hungarian contemporary art, to vitalize its international relation, and ultimately to create a collection of 21st-century international art.
